Overview of Bargaining So Far

Members of Family Visions - Local 303 had an opportunity to put forward their ideas and proposals for improving their collective agreement at a meeting on Thursday, March 2, 2023.

The Bargaining Committee then worked to pull together these proposals into a package to present to the employer.

Both sides agreed to postpone negotiations until the fall to provide the employer with an opportunity to have all of their funding in order first.

The Family Visions - Local 303 Bargaining Committee began negotiations with the employer in late November 2023 and completed talks re: bargaining non-monetary items like working conditions and contract language.

Negotiations re: monetary proposals, such as wages and benefits, took place on January 15 and  29, 2024.

Negotiations between the Family Visions - Local 303 Bargaining Committee and the employer re: wages, benefits and other monetary items stalled in January 2024.

The employer tabled proposals on wage increases which were clearly inadequate, while demanding the union roll back a number of benefits that are currently in the agreement — for example, proposals that would reduce overtime rates and slash stat holidays.

The employer and the Bargaining Committee agreed to engage a third-party conciliator to assist in reaching an agreement and met with the conciliator March 21 and 22, 2024.

Unfortunately, the Family Visions Bargaining Committee's meetings with the third-party conciliator and the employer were not successful.

The Committee held a vote on the employer’s most recent offer on April 10, 2024, asking members to reject the offer and provide the Committee with a strong strike mandate.

On April 10, Family Visions members voted to reject the employer's offer and provided their Bargaining Committee with a very strong strike mandate.

The Bargaining Committee notified the employer and requested they return to the bargaining table.
